Abstract

Photo essay on the rituals of Rainha Pombagira Sete Encruzilhadas in the Cabana do Preto Velho da Mata Escura, in Fortaleza-CE. A work, a macumbeira anthropology that moves and bewitches. The enchanted images reveal what you can look at and keep the sacred secrets, gestures. The visible and the invisible find themselves revealing poetics, interstices and knowledge.

Author Biography

  • Jean Souza dos Anjos, Universidade da Integração Internacional da Lusofonia Afro-Brasileira

    Jean dos Anjos holds a master’s degree from the Anthropology Graduate Program at the Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) and the Universidade da Integração Internacional da Lusofonia Afro-Brasileira (Unilab). He is a specialist in Sciences of Religion: Research and Teaching of the Religious Phenomenon by the Faculdade Católica de Fortaleza (FCF) and has a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC). He was selected for the Pierre Verger Award from the Brazilian Association of Anthropology (ABA) in 2020, received an honorable mention at the III Arthur Napoleão Figueiredo Photography Award in 2018 and received an award at the Salão de Abril in 2016.
