Studies involving the concept of geodiversity and methods of quantification are relatively recent. In this work, we used geological variables in raster format for creating a map that reflects geodiversity rates for the region of Anticlinal de Mariana, southeastern Quadrilátero Ferrífero. Anticlinal de Mariana is a regional structure in the central region of the state of Minas Gerais, between the towns of Ouro Preto and Mariana. This structure is formed by Archean rocks of the Supergrupo Rio das Velhas at its core and the Supergrupo Minas, Proterozoic, the edges of this great fold. In the areas of the Suppergrupo Minas, higher values of geodiversity are observed as a result mainly of a lithological variation that affects the natural environment’s physical characteristics. The region still records mining activities for gold, bauxite, imperial topaz and quartzites in the last three centuries, creating anthropic forms in points identified in this study as those with higher levels of geodiversity.
