Abstract

Based on the structural analysis of Jacurici Valley rocks, wall rock of mafic-ultramafic bodies mineralized in chromite, four deformational events were recognized in the area. These events were established under deformational regimes initially tangential and compressive, developing to transpressive and distensive, respectively denominated Dn, Dn+1, Dn+2 and Dn+3. The referred deformational events were responsible for imposing a strong structural control to the mafic-ultramafic rocks of the area, with direct implications on both geometry and distribution of the chromite-mineralized bodies.
