Abstract

This research gathered data on the graphic production of major contemporary Brazilian newspapers, from the perspective of graphic and editorial design. The study collected technical information related to formats, printing techniques, circulation, and types of paper used in newspaper production, considering different regions of the country. The data collected allowed for the construction of a panoramic view of printing techniques and the circulation of periodicals currently in Brazil, in addition to highlighting the permanence of print as a means of disseminating information guided by social responsibility and journalistic commitment. The results constitute a reference database for researchers of print media in Brazil. The research is part of the activities of the Image Laboratory of the School of Architecture and Urbanism at USP.
