Goliarda Sapienza, write the meaning of joy.

Abstract

Goliarda Sapienza is an Italian writer who wasn’t been evaluated well, but has been forgotten and she was discovered suddenly. She began her career as an actress, interpreter of Pirandello’s female fathers, and at a certain point in her life she began to write novels. After the publication of the autobiographical novel Lettera aperta (1967), she began L’arte della gioia with a long story that lasted almost a year and was published posthumously after a series of editorial reviews. The story of Modesta arouses different reactions, involving us in a reading that may seem an uncomfortable reality for those who would like to ignore it, but it is impossible to think that today the woman lives in an good social status, or to be convinced that fascism was not a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. However, this isn’t political novel, nor Marxist, nor ideological, nor feminist, the author tells the life of Modesta from the violence suffered when she was a child until the age of maturity, and it isn’t a feminist ideology, but the demand for respect for the dignity of women. The objective of the proposal is to reflect on Goliarda’s feminine writing.
