About the Journal

Aim & Scope 

Established in 1993, Revista de Italianística is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Graduate Program in Italian Language, Literature and Culture at the School of Philosophy, Languages and Human Sciences (FFLCH), University of São Paulo (USP). The journal publishes alternating issues devoted to Linguistics and Literary Studies and aims to disseminate the scholarly work of Brazilian and international researchers in the field of Italian Studies.

Revista de Italianística welcomes original articles, essays, translations and book reviews that address different perspectives on the Italian language, literature and culture, as well as their intersections with related fields.

Its scope includes, but is not limited to, Italian literature, literary criticism, translation and the reception of Italian works in Brazil and Brazilian works in Italy, Italian as a second language, Italian language teaching and learning, the development and evaluation of teaching materials, teacher education, theoretical approaches to the Italian language, Italian immigration to Brazil, and cultural and artistic relations between Italy and Brazil.

The journal operates on a continuous submission basis. Manuscripts may be submitted in either Italian or Portuguese and must include a title, abstract and keywords in Portuguese, Italian and English, in accordance with the Author Guidelines and Submission Requirements.

Following an initial editorial screening, manuscripts are submitted to external peer review by specialists in the relevant field. The journal operates a double-blind peer review process, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers throughout the editorial process.

Publication Frequency

The journal publishes at least two issues per year.

Open Access Statement

Revista de Italianística is an Open Access journal that provides immediate, free, and permanent access to all of its content, without charging readers any fees to access or read its articles.

In accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of Open Access, users may copy, distribute, and adapt the published content, provided that they comply with the terms of the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license under which the journal's articles are published.

Policies Overview 

Revista de Italianística adopts editorial policies based on the principles of integrity, transparency, and best practices in scholarly publishing. In accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, the journal ensures an ethical and impartial editorial process based on double-blind peer review, plagiarism screening using iThenticate, the management of conflicts of interest, and the clear definition of the responsibilities of authors, reviewers, and editors.

As an Open Access journal, Revista de Italianística provides immediate and free access to all published content. Authors retain copyright of their works while granting the journal the right of first publication, and all articles are published under the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. The journal does not charge submission or publication fees, encourages self-archiving, adopts digital preservation and personal data protection policies, and maintains guidelines on the use of artificial intelligence, corrections, retractions, and other aspects of the editorial process.
