Double-Blind Peer Review
Double-Blind Peer Review Policy
Revista de Italianística adopts a double-blind peer review process. The identities of authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process and are not disclosed to either party.
Following an initial editorial screening, manuscripts that comply with the journal's scope and submission guidelines are sent to two independent external reviewers (ad hoc) with expertise in the relevant field, who serve on a voluntary basis and receive no remuneration for their work. Reviewers are invited to provide a reasoned evaluation and recommend acceptance, acceptance subject to revisions, or rejection of the manuscript. If the reviewers' recommendations differ substantially, the manuscript will be submitted to a third independent external reviewer, whose evaluation will inform the final editorial decision.
Reviewers who identify any conflict of interest or who believe they are unable to provide an impartial assessment are expected to decline the invitation.
Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not disclose or use their contents before publication.
Authors are expected to address the reviewers' comments or provide a reasoned response where they disagree, and submit a revised manuscript within the deadline established by the Editorial Team. The final decision regarding acceptance or rejection is made by the Editors, taking into account the reviewers' reports and the journal's editorial policies.
Ensuring Anonymity
To preserve the integrity of the double-blind peer review process, submitted manuscripts must not contain any information that could identify the authors. References to authors' names, research groups, institutions, departments, supervisors, research projects, or previously presented or defended academic works (such as conference papers, master's dissertations, or doctoral theses) must be removed.
Whenever the omission of such information may affect the readability of the manuscript, authors are encouraged to replace the omitted text with the statement: "Text removed to preserve the integrity of the double-blind peer review process."
Self-citations in both the manuscript and the reference list should be anonymized by replacing the author's name with "AUTHOR." If the manuscript is accepted for publication, all identifying information will be restored in the final published version.
Authors must also ensure that all identifying information is removed from the electronic file properties before submission.
