Abstract

Understanding that ekphrasis as a rethorical device was employed in Ancient times in much broader terms than in our contemporary world, this paper aims at discussing the role of ekphrasis of daily objects in the poetry of Martial and Statius as a sign of social and cultural changes that took place under Flavian rule.
