Abstract

This article investigates some of the fundamental principles of the pedagogic renovation proposed by Erasmus, above all from the publication, in 1511, of De Ratione studii, one of the principal texts of the Renaissance to summarize the humanist ideals and that for long time have influenced the composition of several education manuals. Premises as the increase in value of the sapientia of the Ancients, the postulate of the variatio and the creative freedom of the student are basic questions that pass over the totality of the texts of Erasmus dedicated to the education.
