Re-elaborating genres in the digital environment: a perspective of the review genre on Instagram

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate how the review genre is re-elaborated in the digital environment of Instagram, based on the analysis of a post from the profile @leitor.em.acao, focusing on the compositional aspects and stylistic choices made by the writer that emerge from this discursive practice. In order to achieve this objective, we analyzed a publication from the profile @leitor.em.acao, which addresses the work Vidas Secas, by the author Graciliano Ramos. The theoretical framework is based on the contributions of Bakhtin’s Circle regarding genres of discourse and their transformation process, theoretical discussions that have anchored the reflections undertaken by Brazilian researchers such as Zavam (2009; 2012), Costa (2010), Costa (2012) and Azevedo (2022), especially concerning the concept of genre re-elaboration. Furthermore, we based our analysis on the theoretical constructs of Marcuschi (2008), Bezerra (2022), and Amorim (2021) regarding the notion of textual support and its implications for the innovation processes of discursive genres. The results of the analysis carried out showed that the re-elaboration of the review genre on Instagram promotes an expressive and compositional shift marked by the intensification of individual style and the presence of multimodal resources that expand the possibilities of meaning construction, revealing new forms of interaction, authorship, and responsiveness inherent to communication mediated by digital platforms.
