Abstract

This paper analyses Die Judenbuche, a novella by Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, published in 1842. The text, understood by the author to be a representation of costumes and morals of a society, also portraits some Jewish characters. In this paper, I analyse the way in which the Jews are represented: as part of society or as its outsiders.
