Abstract

Today, among the many tendencies that include the quotation of works, pastiche, intertextuallity, etc., one comprises works that refer to a repertoire that is, if not classical or canonical, at least stable and established in literary history. In this manner, they register a subtle and at times vague feeling of loss, that touches the writer as well as the reader. This is the case, for instance, of the short stories "The Adventure of a Reader", by Ítalo Calvino, and "Glory", by Guiomar de Grammont. This paper seeks to come to grips with the connection these works establish with each other and with other texts, as narrative pieces that discuss storytelling and reading in the contemporary world.
