Abstract

Considering the historical conditions, ideological presuppositions, and symbolic expectations that define the epistemological base upon which the receiving country projects its problems or its ghosts, the author expounds on the image of Brazil in France in two moments, from 1880 to 1920 and from 1920 to 1980.
