Literary and Political Reflection as Accumulation

Abstract

The volume Brigada ligeira, published in 1945, is Antonio Candido’s first work and gathers ten texts among those published by the author as literary critic of the newspaper Folha da Manhã between 1943 and 1945, when he was still Sociology professor at the University of São Paulo. The hypothesis is that these reviews functioned as a platform for the elaboration of his critical method, which would subsequently be refined, with consequences not restricted to the critic’s own work.
