Abstract

The essay examines the procedures deployed by Francisco Alvim's polemical book Elefante, and the relations between poetics and society which they shape. It takes into consideration the mingling of voices and rhythms, its dialogue with some traditions and the Brazilian present, besides the conflicts and threshold situations which they entail to the poet's reflections about his art.
