Abstract

The essay examines the construction of on idea of the modern, according to a revisionist approach and beginning with is association with the proposed recovery of the national artistic heritage. Using Carlos Drummond de Andrade's text "Colóquio das estátuas" as an example, the essay then offers a reading of the Baroque as a partner in the construction of a more open and political idea of the modern.
