Abstract

As the title indicates, the essay revisits research conducted in the 1970s regarding the repercussions of the modernist movement in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and the local peculiarities it would acquire there. The goal is not only to summarize out-of-stock books on the subject but also to discuss some of their pressuppositions and consider their revelance today, particularly in light of the confrontation between regionalism and modernism that is currently being raised yet again.
