“Uma história das ideias em vez de uma história do mundo” – a dimensão da formação em O homem sem qualidades

Abstract

To Robert Musil, the Bildungsroman of an idea is the novel as such. Starting from this premise, this article shows how his main work, the novel The man without qualities, gives a new dimension to the concept of Bildung according to the historical conditions of his time. To this end, it assigns a greater weight to the reflexive process of the protagonist than to the narrative as such. Following this intellectual adventure that extends the possibilities stemming from the representation of real life, the reader is invited to participate in his formative development and to engage in a new form of reflexion.
