Theodor W. Adorno wrote several notes on Samuel Beckett's novel The Unnamable that should be harnessed for the development of an essay which was never written. This article discusses one of these notes, according to which Beckett's novel could be characterized as the consummation of a trend in the contemporary novel toward the reflective novel. In order to unfold this issue the article revisits elements of Beckett's work and of Adorno's reflection on the form of the novel.
