Abstract

This paper presents an overview of the re-edition of the unfinished novel of Eça de Queirós, A Capital!, now in an critical edition form (Lisboa, Imprensa Nacional/Casa da Moeda, 1992). Organized by Luiz Fagundes Duarte, an specialist in the Portuguese writer, the present edition not only brings back the authenticity of a text that had been published with many imperfections, but also shows, in this case, that the editorial and literary problems are connected.
