This article is concerned with the implications of the concept of mediation in the relationship between the researcher who deals with manuscripts and his object of study. An attempt to think about the different theoretical approaches given to the manuscripts and the consequences of such choices. This general discussion is illustrated by the analysis of the literary manuscripts taking Peircean semiotics as the point of departure.
