“Quem sabe o fim não seja nada e a estrada seja tudo?”: the creative process of the script of Marina Lima Rota 69 concert.

Abstract

This article presents and discusses the process of creating the script for the concert Rota 69, by the singer, songwriter, and arranger Marina Lima. Written by Fernando Muniz and Renato Gonçalves, the script, developed between April and July 2024, aimed to synthesize the artist’s 69 years of life and 45 years of career. As theoretical-methodological foundations, we rely on discussions of process criticism and the dramatic construction of scripts, which respectively guide the analysis of the creative movement and the aspects of script narration. The analysis focuses on four manuscripts and WhatsApp message exchanges, examining the intentions, criteria, and decisions taken during the process. The results highlight the inherent incompleteness of the script as a format; the creative thinking between verbal, sound, and visual matrices in a musical performance; and the construction of the logos, pathos, and ethos of the script.
