This article presents the Journalistic Credibility Index (ICJor), a system of indicators designed to assess the credibility of Brazilian news organizations. The ICJor aims to offer an indigenous proposal for measuring credibility, contributing to improving journalistic processes and products. The ICJor analyzes aspects that demonstrate editorial quality and organizational performance, measured in two evaluation instruments: Product and Management/Innovation. The indicators for each of these dimensions were interpreted by human coders with AI support and weighted in a computerized system, from which it is possible to extract a score for each journalistic organization analyzed. To test the system, seven media outlets of different sizes, reach, and histories were evaluated. Among the results found, it was observed that editorial management positively impacts the quality of journalistic products and that the plurality in coverage does not differ much between large-circulation and independent media outlets.
