This paper aims to show, by means of comparative bibliographic analysis, how the intellectual trajectories of Armand Mattelart and Tristan Mattelart – father and son – intertwine, dialogue and differentiate from each other, in regards of geo-historical and geo-cultural approaches on communication phenomena, systems, networks and policies and information they investigate. From this spatial perspective, it was possible to identify that these two authors choose different geographical scales as a starting point to approach the objects of study that they privilege, along their respective paths as researchers. But both come together in the transnational and cross-border character of the communicational and cultural phenomena they observe.
