This study is based on a theorization that can locate problems related to the crisis of journalism and be applied to awards. Using discourse analysis, the themes of 41 award winners are located on a relational map and illustrative case studies are carried out. Results show that the projects focus on current issues that, when located on the map, provide an insight into the global events from 2020 to 2022, which may be related to misinformation, abuse of power, dehumanization, sensationalism, and negativism. We found experimental, experiential, artistic, visualization, and communication features that can contribute to reconfiguring the news. By indicating abusive communicational relations, our mapping contributes to reflections on journalism and highlights news practices.
