Semiotics and linguistic historiography: counter-hegemonic disciplines

Based on the concepts of linguistic historiography and the history of linguistic ideas, disciplines such as general semiotics can be considered counter-hegemonic insofar as they challenge the status quo of a determined state of science. This study critically reads how semioticians have addressed the history of semiotics of discourse. Starting from evidence that highlights the strength of the historiographical approach in semiotic studies, we analyze some historiographical perspectives in semiotics to outline the general framework of a semiotic-inspired meta-historiography.
