Abstract

The text aims to analyze the emergence of initiatives of appropriations
and uses of the internet by new migratory groups, which, from 2008, have chosen
Brazil as a migratory destination. Based on the conceptual field of communication,
transnational migrations, networks and citizenship, we analyze the narratives of
two groups and a profile from the social network site Facebook – created, managed
and attended by Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian people – to reflect on how
these immigrants constitute spaces of interaction for a “talking of themselves”, of
their migratory experiences and their citizenship processes. We evidence in the
analysis the uses of the internet that are oriented to the mobilization of sociability
networks and support for the planning of migratory projects, the confrontation of
Brazilian migration policies and the multi territorial recreation of the diaspora’s
experience.
