Abstract

This article aims to explain how the novel Passageiro do fim do dia [Passenger in the End of the Day], by Rubens Figueiredo, establishes a dialogue with the artistic discourse of otherness, recurrent on the works by many great Latin-American authors, such as Gabriel García Márquez and Julio Cortázar. For achieving such dialogue, Figueiredo confronts the perspectives of characters who lives in Rio de Janeiro, although they recognize only differences among themselves. As the city where they live is split, their different social circles do not experience everyday interaction.
