The anomalous sight: ways of seeing and apprehending the world in the works of Manoel de Barros

In this paper, we analyse poems by Manoel de Barros, in which the main motifs are vision and image. To analyze the poems, we turn to the comparative method, contrasting the selected corpus with other poems by Charles Baudelaire, and Arthur Rimbaud. Besides, some concepts of Surrealism have been introducted so we could make an approach with the poet’s work. Also, theoretical texts concerning the motif of image, such as Octavio Paz and Claudio Willer are mentioned in order to demonstrate how the poet elaborates a singular vision of the world based on imagetic correspondences.
