Age de Carvalho e a Estrangeiridade na Composição Poética

Abstract

The present work set out to study how the notion of foreignness becomes central to the poetry of Age de Carvalho. Thus, it is necessary to investigate the condition of foreigner directly linked to the experience of self-exile experienced by Age and expressed in his poetic making through the feeling of non-belonging and dislocation in contact with German language and culture. Moreover, it is imperative to verify how this condition is linked to the experience of language estrangement in poetic writing, since the very condition of the poet implies bringing the experience with the language to the place of estrangement, which allows the poet to give up his own language in order to be able to strangle it, removing the word of its well-being - a process that allows it to test all the possibilities within the poem, which also widens the scenario within the language - and thus causes the interruption of automatic interpretive processes and opens space for difference.
