Abstract

The wild and predatory capitalism and the repressive and uniformizing State characterized the Brazilian historical context after the coup in 64. This scenario lights in Haroldo de Campos the necessity to bring the poetic production to the now, to a contemporaneity which is not exactly a post-modern moment, but post-utopian. This work aims to perform an analysis of the essay Poesia e modernidade: da morte da arte à constelação. O poema pós-utópico, by Haroldo de Campos, relating it with the book Os filhos do barro, by Octávio Paz, the text Sobre o conceito de história, by Walter Benjamin, and the book O princípio esperança, by Ernst Bloch, seeking to understand and detail the concepts of the post-utopian poetry. Lastly, this characterization aims to identify and illustrate the post-utopian features expressed in Campos’s poetic production, more specifically in the poems o anjo esquerdo da história and dialética do agora – 2, which composed the book Crisantempo: no espaço curvo nasce um.
