The present study aims to address some theoretical and practical contributions to verify how the transition from printed media towards digital medium is happening among university students and opinion leaders of editorial and communication area at the present moment. To achieve this, the authors initially make a reconstruction of the trajectory from printed text to the digital medium. The objective is to understand how people are dealing with (or not) and how they perceive that transition to a digital platform. A sample survey with six opinion leaders and about 100 university students were collected to meet the goal of this study, which was to know the opinion of this sample, identify the trends in respect to the transition print/digital and get their perception of technology and of the trends that lies ahead in the Brazilian context. The results suggest that the printed book will coexist with its digital form in harmony for at least the next decades, since we are still far from the time in which the digital form will prevail over the printed one and will be the only option of reading platform and content release.
