Communication surrounding the risk: some considerations

Abstract

Communication of risk is an emerging issue of primordial importance, which goes well beyond communication of crisis that occurs when the risk converts into a fact. Mobilized in the table of preventive or corrective actions, it also influences directly the results of the collaborative work. But it remits to the nomad concept of “risk” used in law, commerce, medicine or insurance, which in the course of its evolution is loaded with a number of semantic traces, giving rise to different senses, without getting away from its original ambiguity. In view of this diversity of concepts and of the increase of volume of the corresponding scientific production, this article contributes to establishing a state-of-the art of scientific literature in human and social sciences. Its purpose is of going beyond the traditional dichotomy related to the theoretical specializations that have installed themselves both in sociology and in political science, as well as in information-communication.
