Abstract

The present paper undertakes a critical analysis of two interrelated contemporary issues: the environmental problem and sustainable development. The objective is to identify the origin of the current environmental issue and to demystify the unanimity constructed around the notion of sustainable development. It is adopted the perspective of the human and social sciences. The goal is to alert to the fact that the mentioned unanimity can hide a pernicious conceptuality.
