Abstract

The city is the place of possibilities, accomplishment spot of “vita activa” defended by Hannah Arendt, but it is the dual, diversity and segregation space, too. Finally, it is the visibility and invisibility place. This is a palpable reality in urban public spaces, where ordinary life impose rules and forms to people, beyond and despite what is set in the urban plans and projects, establishing, a new social landscape form the possibilities given. This work is about two public spaces in the city of Goiânia, which have remarkably influenced its history for more than 70 years. These spaces have recently passed through modification, which were based on a project named “Goiânia Downtown Revitalization”. In order to understand how the social landscape happens, I will make a brief bibliography review about the topic, so that, form the data collected, I can verify which the real opportunities of transformation are, and mainly the possibilities of giving these spaces the characteristic of being the representation of the citizens’ essence, where they can express their rights.
