Abstract

Since the Roman Empire until nowadays, the city has been object of study and analysis for countless intellectuals. Parallel to the study of the cities, some thinkers had also approached reflections concerning the environment – or the possible implications of the city – in a process of compilation and improvement of ideas, which had crossed centuries and contributed for our current knowledge on the subject. Although the environment’s thought not to have so been detached and considered in last times (saved exception of the last decades of century XX and beginning of the XXI), it does not mean that it has had completely abandoning. Leaving of these considerations, the present work it focuses (from bibliographical research) the main reflections of the intellectuals: Marcos Polião Vitrúvio (40 dC) and Leon Battista Alberti (1404-1472), detaching of its workmanships the main ideas that bring environmental repercussions.
