Natureza e cultura: o conflito de Gilgamesh

Abstract

We have searched to identify and discuss the concepts that contemporarily support the landscape architecture design activity, through the PhD research" Nature in the city, the nature of the city", approaching the concept of nature as a construct of culture. The present article covers the first chapter of the thesis and it is an attempt to bring up a reflection, in light of history, on the ambivalences that are found in the interactions of society and culture which materialize in the landscape architecture designs. Once we do not intend to ellaborate on a sucession of narrative events, we have chosen points of inflection and/or emblematic moments to lay the foundation of the discussion.
