Abstract

The aim of this paper is to contribute to enhance the reflection on environmental research through social interventions on the daily life of groups, communities or social movements considered subjects of educational projects. The reflections that now rise had their starting point in issues engendered during the development of a thesis for a doctor's degree, inside the context of an intervention research with communities resident in the surrounding area of Conservation Units. From the dialog with theoretical methodological references of action research, participant research and intervention research, issues referring to the themes of environmental education and social interventions were grouped into three axes: theoretical methodological aspects, ethical aspects on the relationship between researcher/educator and groups, and also political ideological aspects on the research as a social practice. When the III Encontro de Pesquisa em Educação Ambiental (EPEA) took place in Ribeirão Preto-SP, in July, 2005, a reflective process was developed with the Group of Discussion and Research (GDR) Environmental Education and Social Interventions, over the above cited axes. This paper establishes a dialog with the questions that have driven the work of GDR, systematizing them and seeking to contribute towards the debate.
