Abstract

Participative research, which is progressively being accepted in the methodology of human sciences, brings a socio-historical perspective that helps to overcome the empiricist tradition in scientific methodology, opening new discussions. Departing from such necessity, this article presents an analysis of nineteen projects of scientific research on participative-active-research supervised by the author. The analytic categories here presented are: the group process triggered by the methodology; the environmental themes generating an educative process; the participation in the activities of investigation and educative action; and the possibilities and limits of participative-active-research with children. The analyses presented have the objectives of contributing to the consolidation of participative-active research in environmental education, as a methodological form to produce pedagogical knowledge, and at the same time offer an opportunity for the public university to develop an intense and competent relationship with the community.
