This paper aims to draw parallels between the academic citation and the citation used as reference in the architectural production. The article discusses the use of paradigmatic or significant figures conveyed or amalgamated in architectural works. It sets off from the understanding of the citation as argumentative and qualitative data. It also investigates some of citations asymmetries and congruences on its use in written language, like the direct transcription or as an interpretive source, reworked and incorporated as an argument in another text. Finally it ponders that in teaching, studying and making architecture it is necessary to know to cite with reference to be able to cite as reference.Downloads
