Abstract

The presence of the public is a constitutive and essential part for the realization of the theatrical phenomenon, however, in the face of the terrible repercussions of the Covid-19 Pandemic, protocols were established imposing social isolation, which prevented in-person theatrical presentations, significantly altering the relationships between theater and public; scenic artists were impelled to seek new forms of communication, in order to keep their relationship with the public alive, among them, the holding of theater festivals in the virtual modality, which enabled meetings of scenic artists from Brazil and Spanish countries -Americans and Caribbeans. After an initial analysis of the relationship that is built between the stage and the audience, the article intends to analyze the virtual realization of Latin American theater festivals as a proposal to face the pandemic and reorganization of the theater, at the moment of greatest distress of the world population. With the cut that limits the period between June 2020 and October 2021, Convocations, Invitation Letters and Manifesto produced by the organization of several Latin American international theater festivals will be presented and analyzed. A comparative study of the documents was carried out, aiming to understand the different positions in relation to the pandemic. In this sense, a confluence was identified around the need to affirm art, and particularly theater, as a moment of reflection, resistance and union of artists and technicians in that profoundly adverse moment.
