Abstract

The book - “See you in August”- tells the story of a woman - Ana Magdalena Bach, 46 years old, 27 years married - who every year, on August 16th, travels to an island in the Caribbean to visit the tomb of his mother in a cemetery for the poor. During these trips, she always, casually, meets a man with whom she has a relationship,, and these different intimate adventures gradually transform her into another woman due to the questions she starts to ask about family life and marriage, mainly. Her feminine condition undergoes introspection, whether by highlighting the current morality or by suspecting betrayal by her seductive husband. When he makes his last visit to the island to exhume his mother's remains, she can understand his past, and through it, he understands his own, while she says goodbye to the chance encounters on the island with the certainty that he is no longer the same woman.
