Abstract

The focus of this article is to identify and situate three photographic proposals that are part of the research project titled Territoriality and its Relationship with the Border through Contemporary Artistic Practices in Northwestern Mexico. Starting from an approach to the concept of territoriality, developed within human geography, the article offers a review of territory and landscape that allows for the integration and analysis of the works of artists Omar Pimienta, Ingrid Hernández, and Cinthya Hooper. The aim is to explore and present their artistic practice around the theme of territoriality. This is complemented by a reflection on the creative process behind these documentary projects and their relationship with the aesthetics that emerge at the border. The result is a classification within artistic practice concerning territoriality, through a visual reflection on the images, in order to construct a symbolic cartography of migratory and identity-related aspects linked to a specific characteristic of the cultural and urban landscape.
