Abstract

This paper intends to analyse Clarice Lispector’s short story “Os Desastres de Sofia” by using Psychoanalysis and Stylistics as resources. Considering it’s a confessional narrative plot, in which subject and object intermingle, the suggested aproach shows how memory and flection are interrelated in the construction of the text, bringing forth the unconscious as a privileged material for literary creation. The characteres are interpreted within a field of projections and identifications, from which comes up a surprising revelation: the teenage protagonist discovers herself as a writer to her own awe, within the sadistic games with her teacher.
