Abstract

After a brief historical-critical indication of the origin of the linkages between Psychology and Religion, five current instances of how some of these relations are dealt with are presented. The instances, with one exception, are drawn out of the most studied areas from 1951 through 1980, according to the survey in international literature, by Bergling (1986): Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Reviews and Religious Experience. The researches are commented from a conceptual and methodological point of view and the conclusion is drawn that religious phenomena are both a legitimate and a fertile subject matter of psychological investigation.
