RESOURSES FOR INNOVATION AND PERFORMANCE: AN ANALYSIS OF THE INVARIANCE MEASUREMENT IN COMPANIES OF HIGH TECHNOLOGICAL INTENSITY SECTORS IN BRAZIL

This study aims to analyze a theoretical model that establishes relationships between resources for innovation and performance and, specifically, to check if the model is stable over time. The investigation adopted the multigroup analysis technique to parse the measurement invariance from the structural equations modeling. It was used micro-data from the technological innovation research (Pintec) from IBGE, relating to the 2003, 2005 and 2008 editions. It is highlighted that the theoretical model is invariant in the equivalence of factorial structure. In the other kinds of measurement invariance, the model is not stable. It is concluded that the measurement process of innovation over time is complex. Factors linked to the socioeconomic context in which the companies act, technological uncertainties and different styles of innovation projects management tend to influence the results, suggesting a reflection about the use of metrics in varied contexts, which were originally created.
