Abstract

The green product development cannot be considered as an isolated practice within organizations, but it must be properly supported by environmental strategies defined by the company. In this context, the present study aims at analyzing the possible relationship between the adoption of environmental strategies and the green product development, going deeper in the discussion held previously by other researchers by means of a case study of a multinational company in the consumer electronics market. This research was based upon bibliographic and documental sources of information, using techniques of content analysis. Among the main results, it was found that the evaluated company has a program for the green products development and content analysis indicated the adoption of at least three distinct environmental strategic approaches: Energy Efficiency, Green Supply Chain and Material Eco-efficiency. However, results regarding the “Environmental Management” strategy diverged from the pointed out by previous studies brought by international literature.
