BETWEEN FORDISM AND FLEXIBILIZATION PRECEPTS: A CASE STUDY ON THE CHANGE’S PROCESS OF PRODUCTION AND WORK IN THE CONSTRUCTION

Abstract

This research describes the changes happened in the production and work processes in a stage of the building site. For that, the case study was done in a company in Recife (PE) responsible for the production and assembly of molds for the construction of buildings. This company, facing financial and administration difficulties, decided to revalue their processes, adopting administration and production practices, based in flexibilization precepts, in just certain stages of the process. The diagnosis, change process, impacts and evaluation were accompanied and described by interviews and direct observation, whose data were treated by the technique of content analysis. The reorganization’s production of the molds, according to the fordism and the flexibilization (pos-fordism) precepts in it assembly, resulted in won financial for the company, besides reducing the total time of the process. It was noted that the coexistence of both "logics" in the production processes and work caused impacts in the employees, demanding investments in training and concerns with motivation. In general, it is ended that the reorganization’s production of the molds and adoption of flexible practices in its assembly, on the part of the researched company, made possible it to guarantee a great positioning in its market.
