Science and the others weapons of the materialist army

Abstract

The intention is to locate the concept of science in the work of Louis Althusser, and above all, the way in which such practice may be of interest to the struggle of the working class. More precisely, the aim is to identify the manner in which this concept is situated within the scope of the philosopher's Theory of Ideology. This is because it is known that the concept of ideology undergoes transformation throughout Louis Althusser's intellectual trajectory, and as the notion of materiality is incorporated into it, there arises a qualitative reorganization that necessitates the investigation of the possibility of a truly scientific practice – one that is distant from ideological interpellation. To do this, we start by reading Althusser's two main works, For Marx and Ideology and Ideological State Apparatuses, which condense what is necessary for the discussion, without, however, going into his manuscript. It should be noted that the intention is to draw conclusions from Althusser himself, which implies a planned renunciation of the disputes of the Althusserian tradition.
