Abstract

Vianinha was a versatile playwright who worked on several fronts and lived distinct periods in the history of Brazil. His work can be thought of in different ways and by distinct fields. One of the most outstanding characteristics of his dramaturgy, so called engaged, is the deep understanding of the human condition and its inevitable division in an unequal world. There are not few characters, that routinely would deem vile, to whom the author glanced loving and understanding. This paper will analyze this facet of Vianinha in building the character Jason of the Special Case aired by Globo Television Network in 1973, as a free adaptation of Euripides' Greek tragedy, Medea.
